Bernardus 2005 Chardonnay - White Wine

Bernardus 2005 Chardonnay - White Wine

$22.99  $17.99

White Wine by Bernardus from Central Coast, California. Number 24 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007! One of the best values in California Chardonnay that we've seen in a long time. Bright yellow hue. Shy scents of peach, brown butter and dusty gravel. Rich, quite ripe, though very taut, flavors of buttery banana, lime and oak spice. Very long close positively gushes with stone fruit and apple notes. -The Wine News 95 Points The beautiful weather throughout the critical months of September and October of 2005 provided us with ripe and perfectly balanced fruit. At Bernardus, all our grapes our hand picked and very gently pressed in order to retain their best characteristics. The resulting wine is a perfect expression of Monterey Chardonnay, with bright citrus and tropical fruit aromas married with mineral notes and subtle toasty oak nuances. The lush, opulent palate is intense and focused with complex flavors of ripe pineapple, lime, mineral notes, and creme brulee lingering on a long, creamy finish.

Big House 2004 Red - Red Wine

Big House 2004 Red - Red Wine

$11.99  $9.99

1 cent shipping through June 15th. Details at wine. comRed Wine by Big House from Central Coast, California. Another break-out hit for the recidivist partisans of this eclectic pan-Mediterranean blend. The varietal mix was altered just a tad this year and introduced a substantial amount of cabernet franc into the concoction. Big House Red is all about fragrance, spice and soft tannins. It has a fragrance of mint and garrigue, with insinuations of blackberry and the ubiquitous framboise. Not a wine that you would want to serve to the Queen (in virtue of its unregenerate rusticity), it is nevertheless a wine that is the perfect complement to barbecue, pasta, pizza and all of the major non-vegan groups. .It's really good, and proves that Randall Grahm continues to march to his own beat. -Wine Enthusiast

Bonny Doon 2003 Le Cigare Volant - Rhone Blends Red Wine

Bonny Doon 2003 Le Cigare Volant - Rhone Blends Red Wine

$28.99

Red Wine by Bonny Doon from Central Coast, California. A little bit of a stylistic departure for Bonny Doon. Since I have been hanging out with Patrick Ducournau, I have learned the mantra: I will fear no tannin. Cigare has always been fruit-driven (in the Australian parlance) and usually has had the soft, plush texture of the upholstery one finds in a vintage Citro n. We have upped the ante and given the wine a little more grip, more conjones, if you will. I think that in doing so, we have enchanced this Cigares ability to age. Varietal composition: 34% Grenache, 33% Syrah, 27% Mourvedre, 2% Viognier, 2% Cinsault and 2% Carignane.

White Wine Other White Wine by Bonny Doon from Central Coast, California. We've used more sauvignon blanc [including some from the very special Rutherford bench, the dusty soil of which is alleged to impart a very particular top-note to sauvignon] in this cuvée, which adds a wonderful grapefruit/gooseberry/cassis-like.

Brassfield 2003 Monte Sereno Vineyard Syrah - Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine

Brassfield 2003 Monte Sereno Vineyard Syrah - Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine

$25.99

Red Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. This signature vineyard of five and a half acres was planted in 2001 and represents the first Syrah produced from the Monte Sereno vineyard located at 2100 feet in elevation on the western slopes of High Valley. The soils on this ridge top are primarily broken shale characteristic of Franciscan formation. Much of this vineyard has a northern exposure which delays ripening by a couple of weeks giving the fruit some additional hang-time, and subsequently softer, velvety tannins. Complex aromas of dark fruits, lavender, cola nut and toasty oak are present and intertwined amongst the elegant flavors, along with a touch of leather, soy and smoky cedar. The broad based palate is framed by the silky tannins providing a wine of great structure for long-term aging, but its soft suppleness makes this stunning wine enjoyable now.

Brassfield 2003 Round Mountain Vineyard Zinfandel - Red Wine

Brassfield 2003 Round Mountain Vineyard Zinfandel - Red Wine

$16.79

Red Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. A lively aromatic medley of cedar and brambly dark fruits give a slight character of cooked jam in the initial offering from the glass. The soft entry is highlighted by ripe raspberry and blackberry notes within a soft, round mid-palate, and followed by a balanced structure of tannins and acidity to the lengthy finish. Enjoy with barbequed fare, spicy tapas or Mediterranean cuisine.

Brassfield 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon - Red Wine

Brassfield 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon - Red Wine

$18.29

Red Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. Brassfield High Serenity Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is filled with aromas of dark fruits, lavendar and hints of cocoa and bay laurel. The inviting aromas of the wine open to a medium bodied mouth-feel and a framework of delicate tannins with a hint of barrel toast. This wine has a reasonable aging potential of 5 to 10 years, but its inherent softness invites it to be enjoyed today. This Cabernet is a proprietary blend sourced from two vineyards on High Serenity Ranch. The Monte Sereno Vineyard makes up the majority of the blend, and is located at 2100 ft. in elevation on the western slopes of High Valley. The soils on this ridge top are primarily broken shale characteristic of Franciscan formation with a light dusting of red volcanic soils intermixed. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot are three of this wine's varietal components. These four vineyard blocks have a southern exposure ensuring softer tannin development, and full fruit maturity for these late ripening varietals. The other Bordelaise varietal in this blend is Merlot which is located on the northern slopes of a southern exposed bench.

Brassfield 2004 Round Mountain Vineyard Zinfandel - Red Wine

Brassfield 2004 Round Mountain Vineyard Zinfandel - Red Wine

$16.79

Red Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. This five acre Zinfandel block was planted in 1998 on the steep north facing volcanic slopes at the foot of Round Mountain volcano in High Valley. The rocky shales and volcanic sands provide excellent drainage and create smaller production yields, while the northern exposure of this vineyard allows for longer maturation and fruit intensity in the grape berries. The wine was aged in small oak cooperage for 16 months in equal portions of French, American and Hungarian oak. A small percentage of Syrah from the neighboring vineyard was blended with this Zinfandel to improve structure and add some additional depth to the finished wine. This vintage shows a sweet, ripe cherry pie nose with well integrated toasty oak notes. A hint of cinnamon and rhubarb are also present with smooth and soft tannins.

Brassfield 2005 Pinot Noir - Red Wine

Brassfield 2005 Pinot Noir - Red Wine

$19.99

Red Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. This three-and-a-half acre block of Pinot Noir was planted on the valley floor, chosen for being one of the coldest spots on High Serenity Ranch for optimum flavor and color development, better acid retention and gravelly, alluvium soils for the best drainage. The longer, cooler growing season of 2005 ripened the fruit later than typical vintages, and because of the small crop, the grapes produced intense fruit concentration, excellent extraction and good acidity.

Brassfield 2006 Serenity - White Wine

Brassfield 2006 Serenity - White Wine

$11.79

White Wine by Brassfield from North Coast, California. Serenity is Brassfield's propietary blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer and Semillon. Cakebread 2005 Merlot - Red Wine

Cakebread 2005 Merlot - Red Wine

$62.99  $61.99

Red Wine by Cakebread from Napa Valley, California. Cakebread Cellars sources the fruit for its Napa Valley Merlot from owned vineyards and those of other growers in the Rutherford and Oak Knoll areas of the Valley and from selected microclimates in the Carneros appellation. Their objective with this wine is to create a harmonious balance between red fruit characteristics, or flavors and aromas of raspberries, red cherries and plums; and black fruit characteristics, suggestive of cassis, dark chocolate and black cherries. Blending fruit from these three areas is key to achieving this result. Up to 25 percent Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure to the blend and enhances the black fruit component of the wine. Cakebread Cellars Merlot is dark garnet in color, reflecting its rich fruit character. Subtle aromas of blackberries, black tea leaves, dried herbs and vanillin are followed on the palate by fresh plum and cherry flavors offset by notes of black pepper and cassis, carrying into a touch of French oak on the finish.

Castle Rock 2006 Monterey Pinot Noir - Red Wine

Castle Rock 2006 Monterey Pinot Noir - Red Wine

$15.99  $12.79

Red Wine by Castle Rock from Central Coast, California. This Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown in Monterey County along the Central Coast of California, where the climate and soil quality provide excellent growing conditions for this Burgundian varietal. Here, the cooling air from Monterey Bay helps to produce a longer growing season for grapes, with extra hang-time on the vines leading to a characteristic depth of flavor in the wine. Castle Rock Monterey Pinot Noir is elegant and medium-bodied, offering aromas of cherry, tea and herbal spice. On the palate, the wine gives flavors of black cherry, plum and spice. It is smooth with a silky texture and mild tannins. This versatile food wine pairs well with lamb, chicken, veal, salmon and light pasta dishes. Although we are fully aware that Monterey is a fine home for Pinot Noir and that there is plenty of the stuff planted there, we could not but help asking how do they do it? when we tasted this one and then looked at the price. With the definition and depth of wines costing up to several times its price, it exhibits keen and concentrated black-cherry fruit with highlights of cola and dried flowers, and it is at once both fleshy in feel and very light on its feet. It trades high extract and bluster for precision and balance and comes up a big winner for it. -Connoisseurs' Guide Good Value
